Linda Kurth

Linda Kurth is an Entrepreneur, Engineer, Patent Attorney and Educator.

Linda is a co-founder and general legal counsel of Xpeed Turbine Technology, LLC, a wind energy company based in Piscataway New Jersey that delivers innovative solutions to both offshore and onshore wind turbine companies using a patented new technology that improves a wind farm’s annual energy production while reducing the cost of wind energy.

Linda is a Lecturer in Penn’s engineering entrepreneurship program where she teaches Intellectual Property and Business Law for Engineering with a focus on educating engineering students about the legal issues facing start-up companies prior to launching, including patenting, trademarking, copyrights, trade secrets and business formation. Prior to joining Penn, Linda taught this course at Rutgers
University.

Linda graduated #2 in her law class, earning her J.D. from the South Texas College of Law with a focus on Intellectual Property where she was an editor of the Law Review. She worked as an IP attorney in both large and small law firms in New Jersey for 15 years before moving to Philadelphia. Linda also earned her B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame with a first career working as a real time simulation engineer in the defense industry.

Linda is a co-inventor with her daughter on two pending patents on inventions for the exotic pet industry, and in her spare time continues to design new products for that small business. Linda is married to John Kurth, the Director of Global Engineering for Livent/FMC. In addition to Jessica, Linda and John have 2 sons.
